Family Promise Needs More Volunteers. Holy Comforter has made an outreach commitment to Family Promise in partnership
with our neighbor, Whitfield Methodist Church. Family Promise assists families who have become homeless to get back on
their feet. Approximately four times per year, our two churches host one or more families for one week.
Whitfield provide the space to house families and volunteers, and we assist with hosting duties, provision of meals, and
logistics. Our next scheduled times are April 8-11, and June 24-27, 2010. Holy Comforter needs more volunteers willing
to help with the following:-
1) provide the evening and Saturday meals,
- 2) serve as dinner hosts for the evening meal,
- 3) help load
and unload the Family Promise trailer on Sunday, and
- 4) to spend one night at Whitfield to serve as an overnight
host.
Overnight hosts have their own rooms, and the accommodations are fairly comfortable. Both couples and singles are
welcome. Please consider whether you can assist in this way. If so, please contact Nelya McKenzie
(nmckenzi@aum.edu) or
Rosine Hall (rosinehall@gmail.com).
The Food Pantry needs more food and sometimes runs out. We need people willing to shop and fill the shelves as needed. Contact Drake or Barbara Johnson.
Several people volunteer to help in the office each week, but we could use more people to
help answer the phones, or fold the newsletter. Contact Drake or Diane.
