CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 9th! Sign up for Godly Play Sunday School will be at 9:30 a.m. in McMaster’s Hall. Classes are for children 4 years old through 4th grader. After church the entire congregation is invited to a Hot Dog Pot Luck lunch. We’ll provide the hot dogs and you bring your favorite salad, beans or side dish to share (no desserts please). The Sunday School teachers will provide the ice cream and toppings for all the kids and those young at heart for our traditional Sundae Sunday. Questions: Contact Sandy Stanley 356-7618.
Junior high and high school will meet with Rick and Dabney Mckenzie.
We are looking for a couple of additional teachers. We are especially interested in men (young or old) who could work with our 1st- 4th graders. We will provide training; you provide the love of passing on God’s work to our children. If you’d like to learn more come and sit in on a couple classes. If you are not sure you want to teach, how about being the “helper” or “gatekeeper” for the day. The “Gatekeeper” helps with getting the children into the class, sets up the snacks, and assists the teacher during the class. For more information please contact Sandy Stanley 356-7618.
This year, for elementary-aged children, we will use the Godly Play curriculum. Godly Play has so much interaction for the children and offers wonderful manipulatives. With Godly Play we become a Community of Children in the classroom as we learn about how Christian people live together and the mystery of God. According to Jerome Berryman the founder of Godly Play there are six objectives:
